“Your Safety – Our Responsibility” Awareness Program

An awareness program on the prevention of crimes against women was conducted at the Podupu Bhavan in Orvakal Mandal headquarters on Thursday, under the theme “Your Safety – Our Responsibility,” informed Kurnool District SP Sri Vikrant Patil, IPS.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP stated that child marriages are still taking place in several parts of the district and emphasized that education is the key to development. He highlighted that the police department is taking multiple measures to prevent atrocities against women.

He urged women to make use of modern technological tools like the Shakti App, which enables immediate assistance during emergencies. He added that the government is implementing special initiatives to ensure women’s safety.

The SP assured that the police are always ready to protect women and encouraged them to approach the police without hesitation in case of any issues. He stressed that women’s safety is a collective responsibility, and increased awareness of laws will help reduce crimes.

Women were advised to immediately report any harassment and make use of emergency helpline numbers: 112, 181, 1098, and 1930.

He further mentioned that police officials have been instructed to conduct similar awareness programs across constituencies, towns, and villages in the district, and that such initiatives will continue regularly.




MLA Smt. Gauru Charitha Reddy, speaking at the event, encouraged women to excel in all fields and strive for success despite challenges. She stated that the state government initiated such programs to enhance awareness of laws among women.

She also appreciated the Kurnool SP for successfully recovering the stolen property in the Kalvabugga Rameshwaram Temple theft case.

Additionally, she noted that to strengthen the functioning of Self-Help Groups in rural areas, Village Organization Assistants (VOAs) have been provided with smartphones worth ₹15,000.

She urged people to inform the police in case of child marriages or any issues faced by women.




Podupu Sangham President Smt. Vijayabharathi emphasized the importance of using the Shakti App during emergencies and advised women to stay aware of cyber crimes.

The program was attended by State Chairperson Parvathamma, Podupu Sangham President Vijayabharathi, Kurnool Rural CI Chandrababu Naidu, Orvakal SI Sunil, and a large number of local women.
